Clint Hooper's 1968 El Camino

My car is a '68 El Camino. I'm the 2nd owner. My uncle in Hollister, CA bought it new and I purchased it from him in 1993. Since then, I've installed a '71 LS-6 468" with Crane hydraulic roller cam & rockers, Edelbrock Performer RPM, 800 Holley, HEI, Hooker 2" Comps w/3" exhaust system & Flowmasters, modified 700R4 w/1,800rpm Boss Hog converter, and 12 bolt modified with Auburn posi and Richmond 4.10 ring & pinion. The suspension consists of PST polygraphite components in the front end, Hellwig 1 1/4" swaybar, Coil Spring Specialties 2" shorter springs, and Monroe Gasmatic shocks. The rear end is still stock Chevelle except for a Hellwig 1" swaybar although modified upper and lower control arms are in it's future. Braking is by 72 SS front discs and rear drums but a set of Baer Racing 13" and 12" disc brake kits are in my garage waiting their turn to be installed. Rolling stock is handled by 17x8 (4" backspace) and 20x10 (5.5" backspace) American Torq-Thrust II's all the way around and grip is handled by BFG Comp T/A 235-45x17 on the front and 275-35x20 Michelin Pilots on the rear. My Elky is now the original white w/black vinyl top and interior, soon to repainted in Viper GTS Blue (no stinkin' vinyl top) with black leather. Since this car is my daily driver, I'm not in any hurry to get it finished.

Unfortunately, Clint had to part with the car in March of 2000.
